We may receive information about you from:
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
For users in jurisdictions where a legal basis for processing is required, we process personal information on the following bases:
If you are an athlete, your profile — including name, graduation year, position, academic information, game film, and recruiting preferences — is visible to college coaches who use the Service. This sharing is the core purpose of the platform and is consented to when you create a profile. You may control profile visibility in your account settings.
If a club or team director adds you to a club roster within the platform, that director may have access to your profile completion status and certain recruiting metrics as displayed in the club dashboard. The club director will not have access to private messages or payment information.
We share information with third-party vendors who help us operate the Service, including cloud hosting and data storage providers, payment processors, email delivery and communication platforms, analytics providers (e.g., Google Analytics), and customer support tools. These vendors are contractually prohibited from using your information for any purpose other than providing services to us.
We may share limited identifiers (e.g., IP address, device ID, browsing behavior) with marketing and analytics vendors to measure the effectiveness of our advertising and to deliver relevant promotional content. This may constitute "sharing" under California law or other applicable law. You may opt out via our cookie banner or browser privacy controls, or by emailing [email protected].
We may disclose your information to law enforcement, courts, regulators, or other third parties when required by applicable law, legal process, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Set Point, our users, or others.
If Set Point is acquired, merged with, or sells all or substantially all of its assets to another entity, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will provide notice before such a transfer takes effect if required by applicable law.
Set Point serves student-athletes, many of whom are under 18 years of age. We take the following steps to protect the privacy of minors:
If you believe we have collected personal information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately at [email protected].
Parents and guardians of minor athletes (under 18) have full visibility and control through the family dashboard. This includes granular sharing controls (share_college_list, share_gpa_detail, share_video, and similar toggles) that allow parents to control exactly which data is visible in the athlete's public recruiting profile, real-time monitoring of recruiting communications and college coach interactions, and control over AI feature usage (e.g., whether the athlete can use AI Email Coach).
Your child's athletic career isn't a dataset. Set Point does not sell minor athlete data, does not use it to train AI models, and does not combine it with data from other services for behavioral profiling or targeting.
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Service, remember your preferences, and analyze usage. Types of cookies we use include:
You can manage cookie preferences via our cookie banner, your browser settings, or the opt-out tools listed below:
Note: We do not honor "Do Not Track" browser signals, as there is no industry-wide standard for these signals.
Set Point uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to power features including college match scoring, the AI Email Coach, and college readiness insights. This processing involves:
Set Point implements a privacy-first architecture for all AI-powered features. Before any data reaches an AI API, it passes through our privacy proxy that automatically strips all personally identifiable information.
Data Sent to AI: Position, graduation year, academic tier (not exact GPA), region (not city/state), and roster context.
Data NEVER Sent to AI: Name, school, email, phone, exact GPA, test scores, video URLs, or any contact information.
We use Anthropic as our AI provider. Anthropic's API terms contractually prohibit using your inputs or outputs for model training.
Set Point implements a tiered consent architecture. Necessary services (Clerk authentication, Stripe payments, and Sentry error tracking) do not require separate consent. Functional AI features require explicit opt-in per feature (e.g., Email Coach, Reference Drafting). Analytics are opt-in via settings and off by default.
Users can grant or revoke AI feature consent at any time from privacy settings. Consent records are stored in our database with timestamps. Set Point honors Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals in accordance with applicable law — when GPC is detected, analytics consent defaults to off and no banner is shown.
All third-party partners used by Set Point — including Anthropic (AI), Clerk (authentication), Stripe (payments), and SendGrid (email) — were contractually required to agree to Set Point's data protection standards. These agreements include explicit prohibitions against selling user data, training machine learning models on user data, or using user data for any purpose beyond providing their specific service.
AI-generated outputs are tools to support your decision-making and are not binding recommendations or predictions. You remain responsible for reviewing and approving all communications you send through the Service. We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects without human review.
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, including:
When you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal information within a reasonable period, except where retention is required by law or to resolve open disputes.
We implement industry-standard administrative, technical, and physical security measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, destruction, or alteration. These measures include encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security assessments.
No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. In the event of a data breach affecting your rights, we will notify you as required by applicable law.
IP addresses are never stored in raw form. When IP addresses are retained for legitimate security and audit purposes (e.g., consent audit logs), only salted SHA-256 hashes of the IP address are stored. Raw IP addresses are discarded immediately after hashing and are never persisted in our systems.
